Radiologically, it is observed among 20-25% in the population aged 50 years or less and 70-95% in the population aged 65 years and over. It has been described as a slowly progressive disease, but with neurological deterioration in 20-62% of patients with non-surgical conservative treatment. Surgical treatment seems to give better results than conservative treatment in cases where the correct approach and adequate decompression are used. Basically there is no consensus on which method is the most accurate, with anterior, posterior and combined approaches and many different methods being described. The most accurate approach to this disease can be determined by patient-based evaluation, and we provide an assessment of the factors influencing surgical planning.
