The Cavitron Ultrasonic Surgical Aspirator (CUSA) is nowadays widely used in neurosurgery, hepatobiliary surgery, gynecology,
urology and gastrointestinal surgery practice. In parallel with the developments in technology, many modifications have been
produced. The most important function of the ultrasonic surgical aspirator is to ensure precise removal of tumor tissue and to
prevent any damage to the vital tissues and vessels around it. This feature has an important role in reducing intraoperative bleeding
and the perioperative mortality-morbidity rates. There is no serious contraindication for the use of the ultrasonic surgical aspirator.
There are often limitations due to the high cost and the availability of personnel experienced in using the device. Here, we aimed to
describe the ultrasonic surgical aspirator device.
