Ankara Üniversitesi, Tıp Fakültesi, Tıp Tarihi ve Etik Anabilim Dalı, Ankara, Türkiye AIM: To present anatomical knowledge of cranial bones and vertebrae in Emir Çelebi's work, Enmuzecu't-Tibb.

MATERIAL and METHODS: Chapters related to anatomy of cranial bones and vertebrae determined in the copy of Enmuzecu't-Tibb, registered in Ankara University, Library of Faculty of Letters, Manuscripts Section, Mustafa Con Collection A. 719. These chapters were transliterated into contemporary Turkish alphabet and translated into modern Turkish, keeping its original language structure.

RESULTS: Anatomical knowledge of cranial bones and vertebrae was in the chapters “Fifth chapter on statement of anatomy of bones” and “second chapter on statement (of anatomy) of vertebrae).” Number of cranial bones, their characteristics and sutures between bones were considered under the title of cranial bones. Subjects such as number of vertebrae and their features and utility of spine were studied under title of anatomy of vertebrae.

CONCLUSION: Writings on anatomy of cranial bones and vertebrae in Enmuzecu't-Tibb, written as a general medical book by Emîr Çelebi in 17th century were parallel to knowledge found in the works of his predecessors such as Rhazes, Haly Abbas, Avicenna and Jorjani and even they seemed to be summary of them. Emîr Çelebi did not give any significant contribution to the classical anatomical knowledge of his era in these subjects.
