Hence no effective treatment exists for vasospasm, morbidity and mortality after SAH is still high. Spinal cord stimulation (SCS) is an effective method for treatment of peripheral vascular disorders, angina pectoris and some other chronic pain states. It is also reported that, SCS has a positive effect on cerebral blood flow in cerebral ischemic conditions. However, there are a few studies about the effect of SCS on cerebral vasospasm. In this study, the effect of SCS on cerebral vasospasm is investigated. Cerebral vasospasm was produced in rabbits and the effect of SCS was evaluated via transcranial Doppler ultrasonograpy. The result of our study is a significant decrease of cerebral blood flow velocity after SCS which points to an improvement in cerebral vasospasm.
