Pain and Art

Adana Numune Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi, Nöroşirürji Kliniği, Adana, Türkiye “Pain” is the most frequent complaint expressed by our patients. There is no one who has not experienced severe pain at some point of his life. In other words, the history of “pain” is as old as the history of humankind. “Pain” is not only the most frequent complaint faced by the neurosurgeons but also the most frequent complaint for all medical professions. Most of the treatments and the procedures performed in medicine have aimed to control the severity of “pain” or to reduce it, or to abolish it.

“Pain” is unattractive but it is a tenacious a part of life. “Pain” has been depicted in various branches of art by poets, writers, musicians and painters who have experienced it. In this study, the relationship between art and ‘’pain’’ has been evaluated. Anahtar Kelimeler : Pain, Pen, Art
