The Significance of Intracranial Hypertension in Head Injury
Aydın PAŞAOĞLU
Erciyes Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Nöroşirürji Anabilim Dalı The significance of intracranial hypertension in head injury has been a controversial issue. There is still some disagreement among investigators on the contribution of intracranial hypertension to morbidity and mortality. This study was carried out in order to assess the significance of intracranial hypertension in terms of outcome and its interrelation with the patients age.

The results suggest that intracranial pressure may be an important prognostic factor and it gains increasing significance in the course of the patients with severe disturbancies of brain function. However, in some head injured patients raised intracranial pressure may be largely a reflection of the degree of brain damage. Anahtar Kelimeler : Head injury, intracranial pressure, outcome
