Microscopes that were first used during surgery in the operating room in the early 20th century have been routinely used in neurosurgery after new methods were developed by Yaşargil. Today, thanks to the technological innovations that develop rapidly every day, some auxiliary techniques increase surgical safety, surgical comfort and skills. One of these assistive techniques, fluorescence-guided surgery, has an important role in both cerebrovascular surgery and tumor surgery; safe gross total resection can be achieved with the aid of this method and it also prolongs survival. This technique, which controls intra-aneurysmal blood flow in a clipped aneurysm and prevents early failure by controlling the efficacy of the bypass flap in bypass surgery, also increases the success and safety of the surgery. Technically, the improvement in laser light sources and innovations in the auto-focus area will also shorten the surgical time, prevent light-induced iatrogenic injuries, and improve surgical comfort.
