Erciyes Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Nöroşirürji Anabilim Dalı, KAYSERİ The results related to complications of the use of Harrington rods in the treatment of spinal fractures were reviewed, of the seventy patients who were followed up fifteen patients had dislodgement or disengagement of the Harrington compenents, nine patients had wound infections and one had a bilaterally broken distractions rods, The two major influences which may leed to complications are tecnical factors which can be overcome by attention to detail and the insufficiency of Harrington instrumentation alone to maintain aligment. Therefore anterior/posterior or combined grefting and stabilisation as well as external stabilisation should be considered. Anahtar Kelimeler : Harrington instrumentation, Spinal fracture
