1Adana Şehir Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi, Beyin ve Sinir Cerrahisi Kliniği, Adana, Türkiye Craniovertebral junction injuries due to high-energy traumas are rare spinal pathologies. Occipital condyle fractures and atlantooccipital dislocation are traumatic pathologies of this region with challenging anatomical features. We analyzed these traumas, which cause serious morbidity and mortality, under the epidemiology, clinical features, imaging, classifications and treatment subtitles. The most used radiological definitions and classifications were noted. In this review, we also examined both pathologies based on the concept of stability and evaluated them with the literature. Conservative and surgical treatment was described, but surgical technique was not mentioned because it was a separate topic. In the literature, there is no consensus on the diagnosis and treatment of either pathology. Therefore, the treatment process should be carried out after a meticulous and detailed examination.
