1Karabük Üniversitesi Karabük Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi, Beyin ve Sinir Cerrahisi Anabilim Dalı, Karabük, Türkiye Pediatric spinal traumas, which constitute 1-10% of all spinal traumas, are rarely seen but unique as they can cause significant consequences by affecting the immature and developing spine. The etiology of pediatric spinal injuries can vary according to the age of the patient and physical activities. They can occur mostly due to motor vehicle accidents, sport injuries, falls, or child abuse. The diagnosis of childhood or pediatric spinal traumas has critical importance in preventing neurological deficits. Therefore the knowledge of pediatric spinal anatomy, performing the necessary radiological techniques, and selecting the treatment according to the results are of critical importance in preventing the irreversible deficits and deformities that can occur in a growing and developing spine.
