1Marmara Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi, Beyin ve Sinir Cerrahisi Anabilim Dalı, İstanbul, Türkiye Spheno-orbital meningiomas are en-plaque meningiomas that originate from the sphenoid wing and extend towards the orbit, with hyperostosis in the surrounding bone structures. The most common clinical symptom is proptosis. Orbital pain, visual deficit, ptosis, diplopia, and ectropion can be seen. The first option for treatment is surgery. The aim of surgical treatment is radical tumor excision with removal of the affected dura and hyperostotic bone. In addition, it is aimed to ensure reconstruction after the resection, reduce proptosis, and preserve ocular and cranial nerve function. In most cases, maximum resection can be achieved with minimal morbidity. Radiotherapy is also an option for residual tumor or recurrent cases. Since spheno-orbital meningiomas have a high risk of recurrence, and these patients should be followed-up clinically and radiologically in the long term.
