Meningiomas arising from the petroclival region represent a surgical/treatment challenge because of their deep location and propensity to engulf eloquent neurovascular structures. Despite the development of complex and sophisticated surgical approaches, gross total resection is not always feasible and surgical morbidity remains a substantial risk. Attempts to preserve the patients" quality of life and emerging adjunct stereotactic radiosurgery treatment techniques such as Gamma Knife force neurosurgeons to meet these demands. Multimodal treatment of petroclival meningiomas has been developed to reduce morbidity of surgery for these tumors. The optimal management of petroclival meningiomas continues to be debated along with several controversies that persist.

The tumor, the patient"s demands and the treatment team (neurosurgery, radiation oncology, medical oncology) variables have to be aligned for an ultimate decision. Anahtar Kelimeler : Petroclival meningioma, Surgery, Radiosurgery
