Angiographically venous drainage dominancy of dural venous sinuses is defined as the drainage of the radiopaque material only or mainly from one of the transverse sinuses in bilateral carotid angiographies.

1n this sutdy, venous drainage dominancy was evaluated by bilateral carotid angiographies in 189 cases.

Cerebral venous drainage dominancy is of great importance and should be considered prior to operations of patients who will undergo radical neck dissection, removal of tumors in the neck that invade internal jugular vein and tumors of glomus jugulare which may require ligation of the internal jugular vein.
