Being a Doctor, Earthquake Victim and Neurosurgeon in an Earthquake
Özkan ÇELIKER1
1Özel Sağlık Hastanesi Denizli, Beyin ve Sinir Cerrahisi Kliniği, Denizli, Türkiye It all started after an earthquake that lasted about 90-100 seconds on February 6 at 04:17. Words will not be enough to describe what we have been through. We have all experienced moments that we think are similar to horror movies, but on the contrary, we see and hear that they are different from each other and even worse as we hear them and watch them. You have already heard the feelings of the earthquake moment from many people or experienced it yourself. On the other hand, I will try to share with you what I have experienced as a doctor, as a surgeon, as a neurosurgeon, and what I can do from now on with what I have seen from my experiences. We saw at the time of the earthquake that people seek shelter in hospitals and health institutions in such disaster situations, they want to take shelter. In order to meet this rightful request, an effective action plan should be found in such disaster situations, without ignoring that the health institutions existing in the regions are both victims of earthquakes and that their employees are victims of earthquakes.
