1Midyat Devlet Hastanesi, Beyin ve Sinir Cerrahisi Kliniği, Mardin, Türkiye Subcortical white matter fibers consist of 3 groups of myelinated fiber tracts. These can be classified as association fibers, projection fibers and commissural fibers. Association fibers connect between gyri on the same hemisphere. The commissural fibers connect the hemispheres to each other in the midline. Projection fibers travel between the cortex of the hemispheres and the deep nuclei and spinal cord. The association fibers include fibers of the superior longitudinal fascicle, arcuate fascicle, middle longitudinal fascicle, inferior longitudinal fascicle, vertical occipital fascicle, cingulum, extreme capsule, and external capsule. The commissural fibers include the corpus callosum, anterior commissure, hippocampal commissure, habelunar commissure, and posterior commissure. The projection fibers include the internal capsule, corona radiata, sagittal stratum, and fornix. Anahtar Kelimeler : White matter, Fiber dissection, Cerebrum
