The UF is believed to be associated with episodic memory, language, and socioemotional functions. Given its central role in regulating episodic memory, language, and behavioral functions, the UF is associated with various disorders. In the literature, UF damage has been indicated to lead to psychiatric disorders, dementia, language, and behavioral disturbances. However, UF"s functions still need to be fully comprehended. This review aims to provide an overview of the structure and functions of the UF by utilizing techniques including white matter dissections, Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI) modalities, and analysis of literature data.
