SSK Okmeydanı Eğitim Hastanesi, Nöroşirurji Kliniği, İstanbul Radiation necrosis is one of the most important delayed side effect of radiotherapy. It is very difficult to distinguish radiation necrosis from tumour recurrence via clinical and radiological findings. Histological examination is essential for accurate diagnosis. Aggresive surgery is recommended in management. Cerebral radiation necrosis can be seen after either radiotherapy that is applied to the primary intracranial malignancies or out of cranium especially nasopharyngeal malignancies. In this report we presented 7 cases of cerebral radiation necrosis that were diagnosed in our clinic during 1998-2002. We analyse the pathological, clinical and radiological features and treatment of these lesions. Anahtar Kelimeler : Aggresive surgery, dexamethasone, radiation necrosis, radiotherapy
