Numune Hastanesi 2. Nöroşirürji Kliniği, Ankara 32 case of chronic subdural haematomas which were operated in our department followed by Computed Tomography (CT) and neurological examinations in the first and sixth weeks postoperatively. The Burr-hole exploration and closed system drainage were performed in all cases and radiological and clinical improvement were investigated postoperatively. The first week control CT was found to be normal in cases which have significant cerebral expansion intraoperatively. The haematoma persisted but decreased, 5 to 19 mm in the first week control CT in cases which have not cerebral expansion intraoperatively. Because the clinical improvement continued the patients have been followed by clinicaly and in the sixth week control CT, the complet. resorption of the haematomas was observed. In this paper we discuss some possible pathophysiological mechanisms. Anahtar Kelimeler : Chronic Subdural Haematoma, closed System Drainage, Computed Tomography
