The largest study on familial intracranial aneurysm disease, carried out in 1994, revealed 238 families and 560 cases. Familial occurrence of this disease indicates that the underlying patnology is genetic arteriopathy. Recent studies have tried to plot the responsible gene without success. Apolipoprotein (a) gene on chromosome 6q26-27 is the focus of these genetic studies. In the last 10 years, three male brothers of the same family were admitted to Dokuz Eylül University, Neurosurgery Department with subarachnoid hemorrhage at different times. Aneurysms were diagnosed in all 3 patients and these were clipped by surgical intervention. By the aforementioned perspective, all first degree relatives were genetically and radiologically screened. The experience gained during the genetical and radiological work-up is presented. Anahtar Kelimeler : Familial aneurysm, genetics, intracranial aneurysm
