Twentyfour cases of fetal ventriculomegaly (FVm) are presented. Five fetuses were aborted during the first two trimesters. Nineteen fetuses diagnosed in the last trimester were subjected to further investigation for the presence of associated abnormalities. Nine cases in the latter group were terminated for severe FVm and / or associated abnormalities. Isolated FVm was seen in 3, and neural tube defects were detected in 7 of ten liveborn babies. Prognosis of FVm is poor. The outcome of FVm depends on the presence of associated abnormalities, the severity of FVm and the timing of the diagnosis.
