A COMPARISON OF THE EFFECTS OF FLEXION AND EXTENSION EXERCISES AFTER LUMBAR DISC SURGERY

Many patients who undergo an operation for intervertebral disc herniation have some degree of symptoms postoperatively. Postoperative rehabilitation has been recognized as positively influencing on the surgical results. Rehabilitation programmes are geared toward implementing exercises based on biomechanical principles. The aim of this study was to compare the effects of different exercise the rapies after disc herniation. Forty patients indicating the need for lumbar disc operation were included in the study. Mc Kenzie extension exercises were applied to the first group, where as the second group received Williams flex ion exercises could be used.
