İzmir Atatürk Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi, Nöroşrürji Kliniği To diagnose and to predict the prognosis of the patient with normal cranial CT and bad neurological condition was constituting a real problem previously. In the present time the improvement in the imaging procedures, especially in magnetic resonace imaging has disclosed that the pathology is diffuse axonal injury in almost all such cases. Our prospective study includes 24 patient with completely normal cranial CT and Glasgow Coma Scale of 8 and less at the time of admission. MRG revealed charecteristic lesions of diffuse axonal injury in all cases. 4 patients died in the hospital, and then one patient died after discharging -due to pulmoner infection. One year after discharging all survivors showed some improvement at control. Anahtar Kelimeler : Diffuse Axonal Injury, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Normal Cranial CT, Severe Head Injuries
