In the perspective of an improvement and refinement of surgical technological instruments, the needs for minimal invazive surgery in neurosurgery, leads to the adoptation of endoscopy to pituitary surgery. Endoscopic endonasal transsphenoidal approach is developed as an alternative procedure to standart transsphenoidal pituitary surgery. We want to share and discuss the advantages of this technique on 11 cases performed by endoscopic endonasal transsphenoidal approach in our clinic, since 1997. Its minimal invasiveness and its visual advantage of wider and direct anatomic control of the operative field, has allowed safer surgery, faster healing and postoperative patient comfort that would be an alternative approach to standart transsphenoidal pituitary surgery.
