Ege Üniversitesi, Tıp Fakültesi, Beyin ve Sinir Cerrahisi Anabilim Dalı, İzmir Meningiomas are the second most common adult brain tumor. In this review, the current understanding of meningiomas in terms of their genetic alterations and unique biological characteristics are described. Aberrant signaling pathways, molecular biology, and issues related to current therapeutic strategies for managing these lesions are discussed from a neurosurgeons' point of view.
