Schwannomas originating from the C1 and C2 roots are rare and often large and dumbbell shaped. Because this anatomical region is different. At this level, the distance between the atlas-axis and the spinal canal is wider, and there is no intervertebral foramen. In this paper, we reported C1 dumbbell tumor in a patient with history of neurofibromatosis type 2. The tumor was totally excised through a posterior approach without complications. Surgical management of dumbbell tumors of cervical includes anterolateral, lateral, posterior approach or combined use of these approaches. This type of surgical approach to patients is important and surgical options are discussed. Anahtar Kelimeler : Dumbbell tumor, Schwannoma, Neurofibromatosis, Posterior approach
