Hacettepe Üniversitesi, Tıp Fakültesi, Nöroşirürji Anabilim Dalı, Ankara, Türkiye Diagnosis and management of pediatric spinal trauma require thorough knowledge of spinal anatomy and biomechanic properties particular to that age group. Spinal column is subjected to tremendous change from birth to adolescence which effects its biomechanical properties. As the response to trauma is directly related to the biomechanical properties of the given tissue, one can appreciate that the mechanism, level and consequence of spinal trauma should be different among different age groups.
