Epilepsy is one of the commonest neurological disorders and it aff ects nearly 1% of the world population. Extratemporal lobe epilepsy (ETLE) is a disorder that originates at a focus other than the temporal lobe, and causes chronic seizures. Temporal lobe epilepsies are generally welldefined lesions but this is not always applicable for ETLE. The most important postoperative outcome predictors of ETLE surgery are a detailed preoperative assessment and if possible total resection of the focus of the seizure. Nearly all early complications are reversible unless there is a parenchyma damage, but on the other hand partial or subtotal resection of the focal area causing seizures can lead to much more serious postoperative outcomes.
