Bülent Ecevit Üniversitesi, Tıp Fakültesi, Beyin ve Sinir Cerrahisi Anabilim Dalı, Zonguldak, Turkey The term Clay-shoveler’ s fracture is used for isolated spinous process of the lower cervical or upper thoracic vertebrae, mostly involving C6- T3. These fractures that typically occur after avulsion type traumas do not require any surgical treatment and generally respond to medical treatment with a collar. A 22-year-old male with an avulsion-type isolated C6 spinous process fracture after a traff ic accident is presented. After treatment with a cervical collar and anti-infl ammatory medication, radiographic images at the 6-month follow-up revealed osseous callus formation at the fracture line. Clay-shoveler’s fractures are often treated conservatively without any clinical problems. Anahtar Kelimeler : Clay-shoveler’s fracture, Spinous process, Cervical
