INTERNAL FIXATION FOR CRANIOCERVICAL STABILIZATION
Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Nöroşirürji Anabilim Dalı, İZMİR
Four patiens who had atlanto-axial instability were treated using modified Wisconsin/Luque/Hartshill rectangles. To accomplish this, a steel loop was secured to the occiput via drill holes and to the cervical vertebrae by sublaminar wires. This technique with bone grafting not only provides rigid stabilization and early mobilization. but also allows anterior or posterior decompressive surgery.
