Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi, Nöroşirürji Anabilim Dalı, İzmir Spontaneous intestinal perforation by a ventriculoperitoneal (V-P) shunt is a very rare complication of V-P shunt surgery. Although infrequent, this delayed complication can be fatal if it goes unrecognized. In this study, spontaneous protrusions of the abdominal end of V-P shunts through the anus 6 and 8 months after the V-P shunt surgery are reported in two children with hydrocephalus.
