EVALUATING OF 57 ASTROCYTOMA CASES GRADED HISTOPATHOLOGICALLY ACCORDING TO DAUMAS-DUPORT AND WHO CRITERIAS

In this retrospective study, 57 astrocytoma cases were evaluated between 1988 and 1997 histopatologically. Male to female ratio was 1.71 (36 male, 21 female). The mean age of patients was 36.73 and most of cases were encountered in the second and fifth decades of life. Of cases, there were 7% grade I, 16% grade 11, 32% grade III and 45% grade IV according to Daumas-Duport system. According to World Health Organization (WHO) classification, 23% of cases were astrocytoma, 32% anaplastic astrocytoma and 45% glioblastoma.
