Özel Park Hastanesi, Nöroşirürji Kliniği, Malatya, Türkiye Interbody fusion technique has been advocated for decades as a treatment especially for degenerative disc disease. Compared to posterolateral fusion, interbody fusion technique provide wider fusion area and restore disc height which opens up the narrowed neural canal and foramen. And also compared to posterior approach to lumbar spine anterior approach provide direct visulation of intervertebral disc space and avoid neural tissue and back muscle manuplation. However, conventional anterior approaches fell out of favor because of higher complication rates due to vessel and semphatic plexus injuries. The development of minimally invazive technique such as mini open anterior approach technique dimished the complication rates. The aim of this chapter is to discuss the technique and advantages of mini open anterior interbody fusion. Anahtar Kelimeler : Lumbar, Minimally invazive, Anterior, Interbody, Fusion
