The mortality rate for a brain abscess ranges from 5 to 15%. Brain abscesses develop by direct or hematogenous spread. Abscess formation after intracerebral hematoma untreated surgically or non-penetrating head injury is extremely rare. Generally; brain abscess formation depends on the hematogenous spread of infection in another region or sepsis, due to blood-brain barrier disruption. We present abscess formation due to systemic infection at the side of intracerebral hematoma after non-penetrating head injury. Immunsuppressive eff ects of long-term, high-dose corticosteroids should be considered in ICH. Early treatment should be administered for the risk of systemic infections and hematogenous spread that can cause a brain abscess.
