Earlier studies about cerebral veins have focused more on the lateral surface of the cerebrum without the detail needed for operations on the medial and basal surface. Connection of cerebral veins with each other and frequent variations in the size have made it difficult to identify the normal structure. Neuroimaging studies in some situations like displacement of veins may give us more detailed information than arteries about accurate localization of the lesion because the veins are firmly adherent to the brain more than arteries. Damaging any part of the venous network may cause severe deficits, including hemiplegia, coma and death. For this reason, dissection during surgery needs to be more careful to avoid veins. Undoubtedly further studies are needed for indicating the importance of the venous system of the brain for microsurgical operations. Anahtar Kelimeler : Brain, Vein, Anatomy
