The Role of Neuromodulation in the Treatment of Angina Pectoris and Postherpetic Neuralgia

The number of chronic angina patients with low quality of life is increasing day by day due to uncontrolled coronary artery disease
with conventional medical treatment and revascularization. Among neuromodulatory treatment methods, spinal cord stimulated
randomized trials are promising adjunctive treatment modalities with an increase in quality of life and a significant reduction in pain.Postherpetic neuralgia is the most common complication of acute herpes zoster and the treatment is very difficult in such types of neuropathic pain. Spinal cord stimulation and peripheral nerve stimulation as a neuromodulatory therapy are promising treatment modalities in this patient group.
In this article, neuromodulative treatment methods in the treatment of chronic resistant angina pectoris and postherpetic neuralgia will be reviewed with the literature.
