The frequency of subaxial cervical trauma, which often occurs as a result of traffic accidents, falls from height, and sports injuries, is gradually increasing due to advancing technology and rapid changes in the lifestyle. Careful clinical and radiographic evaluation should be done and the index of suspicion should be kept high. Early diagnosis and timely treatment approach are the most important factors that reduce mortality and morbidity. Considering the mechanical stability of the spine, the patient"s neurological status, and other patient-related factors can help make a reasonable plan for an effective treatment. The main goal in surgical treatment is to try to increase neurological improvement by preventing possible secondary injuries. Other surgical targets are decompression of the neural elements under compression, providing a stable painless cervical spine, creating spine movement in the widest possible range, and preventing late instability and deformity. Providing early mobilization and rehabilitation after surgery helps reduce the morbidity and mortality of long-term immobilization. In order to reduce such traumas, which may cause serious neurological damage, permanent injuries, and economic and social losses, cervical injury should be suspected in every emergency patient and current treatment algorithms should be applied until proven otherwise.
