Meningiomas are usually benign and mostly occur spontaneously. Viral infections, chronic inflammation, radiation,
genetic factors, endogenous hormone or growth factor stimulation or trauma are very rare in the aetiology of meningiomas.
Harvey Cushing was the first person to suggest that meningiomas occurred with meningeal irritation following trauma
in calvarium. In the light of the past reports, we have presented the second case in literature of meningioma in the burr
hole region that opened in the cranium with further discussion about the possible underlying meningioma formation
mechanism supported by the relevant literature.
