It may show signs and symptoms related to spinal cord or root compression. Direct radiography, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and electrophysiological studies are used for the diagnosis. Non-operative treatment methods are generally preferred unless there is a progressive neurological finding. Surgical treatment is indicated in patients who do not respond to conservative treatment. Surgical interventions can be in the form of cervical discectomy, corpectomy, laminectomy laminoplasty, and their combinations. Motion preservation surgeries have yielded results similar to or better than fusion surgeries. Moreover, the use of cervical pedicular dynamic systems will pave the way in pathologies caused by multi-level instability of the cervical region, just like currently used in the lumbar region, and their popularity will gradually increase.
