Syringomyelia is a clinical picture in which neurological findings may occur as a result of the development of a cystic cavity in the spinal cord and spinal cord compression. Although it is thought to develop due to a congenital pathology, the symptoms usually appear in adult ages. Syringomyelia has a slow course, with progressive clinical features in the foreground. Spinal anomalies and scoliosis are the most important findings in children. Coexistence of spinal dysraphism is common in the pediatric group. It is often associated with Chiari malformation type 1, spinal trauma, and spina bifida. Although the natural course of syringomyelia is uncertain, surgery is recommended in patients with progressive clinical findings. Although the priority in surgery is to correct the etiology, interventions for the syrinx cavity can be planned in cases where the treatment response is inadequate or in idiopathic case groups. The aim of surgery is to regulate the cerebrospinal fluid cycle. Anahtar Kelimeler : Syringomyelia, Scoliosis, Chiari malformation, Spinal dysraphism
