The anatomical and physiological differences of pediatric patients and lack of a standardized approach are the difficulties of management of these patients. Although the basic principles are the same, the traumatized children need to be handled separately from the adult population. Since the body mass index is lower in children, multiple traumas affecting more than one organ and system at the same time are much more. Therefore, many cases need to be managed by a multidisciplinary approach. Nonoperative management of many injuries, including solid organ trauma, has become the standard of care for children.
