MdLF, which connects the temporal, parietal and occipital lobes, is still one of the least understood white matter pathways in the
human brain. Although it was first described in macaque monkeys by Seltzer and Pandya in 1984, its existence in humans was
not proven until 2009. MdLF starts from the temporal pole anteriorly and extends beneath the superior temporal gyrus to the
parieto-occipital junction posteriorly. Unfortunately, there is no definitive data about the functional function of MdLF. It is discussed
that it may have a role in speech and attention, based on its anatomical definition and the cortical regions it is connected to.
In recent studies, it is discussed that MdLF plays a role in converting sounds and syllables into word form, processing them
acoustically and phonetically, and producing words. However, studies have shown that there is no linguistic effect after subcortical
electrical stimulation to the dominant hemisphere during awake surgery. In subsequent studies, the role of MdLF in functions such
as audiovisual integration, processing and retrieval of auditory information was discussed.
