1Ege Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi, Beyin ve Sinir Cerrahisi Anabilim Dalı, İzmir, Türkiye The cingulum bundle, one of the main parts of the limbic system, is a structure that surrounds the corpus callosum like a belt or arch. Although it is a long bundle of connections, the cingulum bundle, which constantly changes in composition as its fibers join and leave the bundle, connects the subcortical nuclei to the cingulate gyrus as well as the frontal, parietal and medial temporal lobes. Due to its crucial and complex connections, it appears as a neural interface between emotion, sensory functions and action and is a natural target for psychosurgical procedures, extending rostrocaudally along the cingulate sulcus on the medial surface of the brain. There is no doubt that understanding such a complex anatomical structure as the bundle of cingulum will open new horizons in the pathogenesis and treatment of many diseases. In this study, the principles to be considered during dissection of the bundle of the cingulum are summarized along with the anatomy of the white matter and the functional properties of the connection system.
