In the literature there are controversies related to aneurysm size and the risk of rupture. Some authors recommend periodic follow up for patients who have aneurysms smaller than 5 mm. We reviewed our intracranial aneurysm series and determined that aneurysms smaller than 5 mm may rupture with catastrophic results.
