2Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi KBB, Anabilim Dalı, İzmir Two patients were operated on via the middle fossa approach for intracanalicular acoustic neurinomas.Tumors originating from the inferior vestibular nerve were completely removed. Facial and cochlear nerves were anatomically preserved in both patients. In the first patient who was 31 years old, speech discrimination score was 56 percent pre-operatively. Postoperatively deafness and transient facial palsy -due to repetitive stimuli- developed. In the second patient who was 43 years old, speech discrimination score was 84 percent. Post-operatively, the patient had measurable hearing. We think that middle fossa approach can be used for complete removal of intracanalicular neurinomas in young patients who have no hearing problem at the other ear.
