GATA Tıp Fakültesi Nöroşirürji Anabilim Dalı, Ankara 198 cases of penetrating missile head injury who underwent acrylic cranioplasty in our department between 1986 and 1996 are analysed in terms of postoperative complications, and particularly the risk of infection. It is concluded that acrylic cranioplasty for cranial defects caused by penetrating missile head injury can be performed without major risks in suitable conditions.
