Sağlık Bakanlığı Ankara Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi, Cebeci, Ankara OBJECTIVE: To discuss the surgical anatomy, surgical approaches and procedures on three cases of distal posterior cerebral antery aneurysms.

METHOD: Three cases who had been operated for distal posterior cerebral artery aneurysms in our department were reviewed retrospectively.

RESULT: All three aneurysms were saccular. The aneurysms arose from the P3 segment in two patients, and the P3-P4 junction in one patient. In all, three patients underwent surgery. P3 segment aneurysms were approached subtemporal route. The P3-P4 junction aneurysm was approached by the subtemporal route. Two aneurysms were treated by trapping, and one aneurysm was treated by clipping the aneurysmal neck. All patients had an excellent outcome.

CONCLUSION: Aneurysms of the posterior cerebral artery are uncommon and they are distinct from other aneurysms as to therapeutic alternatives. Anahtar Kelimeler : Aneurysm, posterior cerebral artery, surgical approach
