SSK Ankara Eğitim Hastanesi Nöroşirürji Klinikleri, Ankara In a period of 14 years, 51 cases with cerebral arteriovenous malformation had been operated using microsurgery in the Department of Neurosurgery, Ankara Social Security Educational Hospital. In 86% of these cases total exicionwas successfully obtained, while it could not have been achieved in the remaining 14% . In 34 of the cases (66%) no significant neurological finding was seen in one year post-operational period. Ten (20%) of the cases had minor neurological deficits without needing any help from others and 3 (6%) of the cases depended on others help with their heavy neurological deficits. In the cases that total obliteration could not have been achieved, no further bleeding was seen in one year follow-up, however, uncontrollable epilepsy still existed. Mortality due to surgery is observed to be 8% and morbidity 14%. Four of the cases died because of the brain edema in the early post-operative period. The series had been evaluated through the review of literature and presented. Anahtar Kelimeler : Arteriovenous malformation, endovascular embolization, microsurgery, radiosurgery
