Arachnoid Cyst Ruptures into Subdural Space after Head Trauma: Case Report
SSK Okmeydanı Eğitim Hastanesi, Nöroşirürji Kliniği, İstanbul
Subdural hygroma secondary to arachnoid cyst after head trauma is
encountered rarely. Subdural hygroma develops from a middle fossa arachnoid
cyst in young patients following trauma or spontaneously. The treatment is still
controversial and different methods are proposed in literature. Surgical
intervention is required for symptomatic patients who have compression signs
radiologically and it is necessary to plan the surgical management for each
patient individually. We present a patient who had a middle fossa arachnoid
cyst which developed into a subdural hygroma after head trauma.
