Çukurova Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi, Nöroşirürji ABD. Balcalı, Adana Objective: Dumbbell tumors are tumors of the spine with multiple components: involving the intradural, foraminal, and extraforaminal extradural compartments. Dumbbell tumors in the cervical region include different pathologies; of them shwannoma is the most common. However, menengiomas, sarcomas, and different types of the bone tumors may extend from the inside to the outside of the spinal canal through the vertebral foramen. A dumbbell cervical spinal lipoma without associated spinal dysraphism is very rare and only a few cases have been reported.

Clinical Presentation: A 21-year-old girl presented with a history of neck mass, which manifested on her pregnancy. A cervical computed tomographic scan and magnetic resonance imaging disclosed a large, homogeneous tumor in the intradural extramedullar space and extending into the posterior cervical area through the C2 intervertebral foramen. A presumptive diagnosis of lipoma was made.

Intervention: With the use of posterior cervical approach, C2 and C3 hemilaminectomy and total removal of tumor were performed. Pathological exarnination revealed the diagnosis of a lipoma.

Conclusion: A dumbbell cervical spinal lipoma without associated spinal dysraphism is presented and clinical, and radiological features are discussed with literature. Anahtar Kelimeler : Cervical, dumbbell tumor, lipoma, spinal
