Dr. Lütfi Kırdar Kartal Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi 2. Nöroşirürji Kliniği, İstanbul Spinal epidural hematoma (SEH) due to birth trauma rarely occur. SEH in infant is a serious complication which presents a clinical and radiologic diagnostic problem. Thorough neurologic examination is limited in infants in general, and in infants in poor clinical condition. We describe a case presenting with clinical signs of a spinal cord injury after breech delivery. General hypotonia in four extremities of the patient was thought as a result of birth asphyxia by paediatri clinic. But, flaccid motor paralysis in upper extremity improved after five days as remaining in the same level in lower extrernity. We consulted the patient, and two SEH in thoracal and thoracolumbar region were confirmed on magnetic resonans image. SEH in thoracolumbar region has caused spinal cord compression. No neurological improvement was achieved although we completely evacuated the hematoma at thoracolombar region. Anahtar Kelimeler : Neonate, Spinal epidural hematoma, Breech delivery, Birth trauma
